"Terre Alte" path

This itinerary takes you to the back country-side and allows you to explore it even in winter. Several evidences reminds you of agricultural and artisan activities carried out not too far away from the see (terraces and dry walls, mills, furnaces etc...).

The route can be split in three different stages (sections). Frequent bus services, easily available, will connect you with the coast.

First section: ring of about 9 km – 3,5 hours walk from Toirano to Balestrino (539 mt) and back.

Second section: 9,8 km. – 4,5 hours walk and overnight stay at the “Pian delle Bosse” hut (841 mt.).

Third section: 15,75 km. – 7 hours walk to the final destination of our tour: the “Melogno” hill (1027 mt.) through pastures, hazel-trees, beeches, centuries- old chestnut-trees, waterfalls and pools (puddles) of clear and fresh water.
